Where I come from
I learned photography before digital. Thirty-six exposures on a roll of film. Every frame cost money and had to earn its place before you pressed the shutter. You didn't hold it down and sort it out later. You learned to see the moment. That way of looking at material never left me.
For years I worked culling and editing the output of hired photographers, reducing thousands of frames down to the shots that were actually saleable. You do that long enough and it becomes muscle memory. You stop deliberating and start seeing immediately what matters and what doesn't.
Don't let history disappearI once watched a company ledger get thrown into a skip during an office clearance. The first page recorded the company's very first sale. Decades of institutional history, gone because nobody recognised what they were discarding. Important things rarely disappear overnight; they disappear gradually, one device at a time.
Who does this
Steve Anderson: Twenty years curating visual archives across four countries. At UNESCO-recognised Sagomuseet in Sweden, I built a tagged image bank system that is still in continuous use today, fifteen years later. I've photographed hotels, resorts, and hospitals where the job was deciding which image actually closes a booking.
Jeraldine Anderson: Graphic designer. Jeraldine ran a ten-person design and communications department for resort properties including Dakak Park and Beach Resort, where she sat in planning meetings with Greg Norman during development of the resort's golf course. She handles the operational side, intake, and day-to-day continuity. If I'm ever unavailable, the business doesn't stop.
